The best boho jewellery to shop this season

Boho jewellery is just one of those trends that we can’t quite shake. Every year without fail we see yet another celeb layered in chunky gold chains or rocking evil eye rings, and we fall in love with the effortlessly cool, hippy vibe all over again.

This year we’re not sure if it’s the ‘70s fashion renaissance (aka the Daisy Jones effect) we have to thank for our current boho obsession, or the resurgence of ‘90s/early noughties trends such as belly chains and low-slung jeans. All we know is that dainty layers and clean gold looks are out, and grungy, undone vibes are totally in.

But you don’t have to be a surfer chick or a festival fanatic to rock these jewels, or even be on holiday (although a shell necklace with a bikini is a serious lewk). In fact, boho jewellery is one of the easiest trends to tap into thanks to the many definitions of ‘boho’. Just wanna dip your toe in? Simply add a beaded necklace into your everyday stack for texture, or try threading a charm onto your hoops.

Those who really love a jewellery statement, though, will be glad to know that more is more when it comes to boho. Layering is key here – why wear one necklace when you can wear four, are we right? Just look to our fave It girls Alexa Chung and Sienna Miller if you need some style inspo – they’ve both been rocking ring-bedecked fingers and back-to-back bangles since the early 2000s.

And the beauty of boho jewellery is that it instantly elevates even the plainest of outfits – simple slip dresses can easily go from mediocre to wowza just by adding statement boho earrings. But if you’re looking to really embrace the hippy style, you’ll want to add layers of chains, beads and pearls (basically the whole jewellery box, people) to milkmaid maxis and crochet minis.

Best Boho Earrings

A statement earring is probably the easiest way to inject a touch of boho into everyday looks – simply opt for an oversized hoop or drop iteration for maximum impact. British jewellery brand Ottoman Hands should be your first stop for all boho jewels, but these art deco inspired Erte Labradorite Earrings are real showstoppers with their semi-precious stones and hammered detailing. If that feels a little OTT for your look, Missoma’s Zenyu Chandelier hoops are a more wearable option and have even had the seal of approval from the Princess of Wales.

An easy way to achieve that boho look is simply layering up necklaces you have lying around in your jewellery collection. But if you still feel like something is missing, try adding some beaded iterations into the mix to add a touch of colour. We love how By Alona has combined semi-precious stones like turquoise with a statement gold-plated pendant on its choker design. Plus, Free People’s shell necklace is giving us serious mermaidcore vibes.

Best Boho Bracelets

Nothing says boho quite like the clinking of multiple bangles on your wrist. While chunky cuff styles are always chic, we love Monica Vinader’s daintier take on the trend with its hammered Siren Muse bangle. And trust Harris Reed’s collab with Missoma to provide a gothic take on bohemian jewels featuring turquoise and lapis gemstones alongside mini white pearls.

If you usually just wear a pinky ring or stay faithful to a timeless gold band, it’s time to get a bit more experimental, ladies. This doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on new styles but simply start stacking all your existing rings together. No rules apply here: feel free to mix metals and pile chunkier styles on top of everyday rings. If your collection is looking a lil’ sparse, here are some new-in pieces to treat yourself to.
